How to clean an air purifier

I took a look at user guides for Honeywell, Winix and Levoit air purifiers to come up with this cleaning overview. Here are the basic steps to follow to clean your air purifier:

  1. Unplug your air purifier

This is always the first step. Make sure your air purifier is unplugged before you begin.

2. Check the filters

Most air purifiers come with two different filters: a prefilter and a HEPA filter. Some even have a third filter. Each manufacturer's recommendations will vary in terms of cleaning the filters. Honeywell, Winix and Levoit all say not to wash or otherwise clean their HEPA filters, but instead to replace them regularly.

Levoit suggests replacing its HEPA filter every six to eight months, while both Honeywell and Winix say their units last up to one year.

Levoit's prefilter should be cleaned every two to four weeks with a gentle brush or vacuum. You can wash the Winix prefilter every few weeks; just make sure it's completely dry before you put it back. And Honeywell says not to wash it's prefilter at all, but instead to replace it every three months.

3. Wipe off the air purifier

All of the manufacturers I checked suggested wiping off the air purifier with a dry cloth about once every few months. Do not use water or any cleaning solvent to clean off your air purifier.

4. Store the filters when not in use

If the air purifier isn't going to be used for a month or more, Honeywell says it's best to remove and store its filters in tightly sealed bags.

One final note

Keep in mind that the specific cleaning requirements might vary slightly depending on the brand and model of air purifier you purchase. Make sure to check the printed or online user's guide that comes with your air purifier to confirm its maintenance needs. Regardless, your air purifier will need some sort of upkeep and it will likely follow the information detailed above (or very close).

Take a look at our guide on where to install your air purifier to get more information on how to position it in a room so it runs optimally.

How to Sideload Apps on Android TV: APK Install and ADB Sideload methods explained

in easy-to-follow steps!

Android TV may not be perfect, but it’s one of the better smart TV platforms on the market. It gives you access to lots of apps and games, most of which you can download from the Google Play Store. But some Android TV apps aren’t available via Google Play. Fortunately, just like how you can sideload apps onto Android smartphones and tablets, you can sideload apps on Android TV devices. Sideloading on Android TV isn’t as straightforward as phones or tablets, but it isn’t very challenging either.

If you aren’t sure how to sideload an app on Android TV, this article will explain two of the best ways to do so.

Navigate this article:

Important: You should only install APKs or app bundles downloaded from trusted sources.

While you can use a web browser, like JioPages, to download APK files directly onto your Android TV, it’s a hassle unless you have a keyboard and mouse connected to the television. So it’s better to download the APK files on your Android phone or computer and then transfer them to your Android TV.

One of the easiest ways to achieve this is by using the Send Files to TV (SFTTV) app. It’s available on the Google Play store for both Android phones and Android TVs.

  • Once you have installed the Send Files to TV app, open it on your phone and TV.

  • Finish the initial setup, including giving the app permission to access the device’s storage.

  • Then you just have to tap Send on your Android device.

  • The app will ask you to pick a file to send to your TV. Select the file, and tap on your Android TV in the list. The app file will now seamlessly transfer to your Android TV.

  • The Send Files to TV app saves the transferred files in the Downloads folder of your TV. You can now open the APK within the Send Files to TV app to install it.

  • As it is your first time installing an APK using the Send Files to TV app, you’ll have to permit the app to install apps from unknown sources. Follow the on-screen instructions to give permission. Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings > Device Preferences > Security & Restrictions > Unknown sources and enable the Send Files to TV toggle. If you have an older Android TV version, there may be a single option to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources.

  • After the permission, tap on the APK file again to install it. Depending on the app size, it’ll take a few seconds, and the app will be installed.

If you’re trying to install an app bundle, you’ll need to use an app like the APKMirror Installer on your TV to install it. APKMirror Installer lets you install .apkm, .xapk, and .apks app bundle files.

While Send Files to TV is a quick and easy way to send APK files to install on your Android TV, you can also use an app like X-plore File Manager that comes with a built-in Wi-Fi file-sharing function to share files from your Android phone to your Android TV. However, the rest of the process remains the same.

You can also use cloud storage services, like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, to upload APK files from your PC or smartphone and then download them using a file manager that supports cloud storage services.

Using ADB to sideload apps on Android TV

If you are comfortable with the command line, ADB is one of the easiest ways to sideload apps on your Android TV. As long as you have ADB set up on your PC or Mac, you don’t need extra software to sideload apps onto your Android TV.

  • If you haven’t set up ADB on your PC or Mac, follow our explainer on how to install ADB to do it now.

  • Head over to Settings on your Android TV to enable USB Debugging.

  • For this, you’ll first have to activate Developer Options. You can do that by tapping on Build Number seven times or more until you see the You are now a developer prompt.

  • Navigate to Settings > Device Preferences > Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.

  • You are now all set to sideload apps. We’ll use ADB Wireless, so you don’t need a USB cable to connect to your Android TV. As long as your Android TV and computer are on the same wireless network, you’re good to go.

  • Now you have to find the IP address of your Android TV. To do this, head over to Settings > Network & Internet and tap on the active Wi-Fi connection (or Ethernet if you are using that), and you’ll see an IP address. Note down this IP as we will use it to run ADB wirelessly on your TV.

  • Open the command line on your PC or Mac and run “ADB connect” (without quotes), followed by the IP address you noted from your TV. Example: adb connect 192.168.1.1:5555.

  • If it’s your first time connecting, your Android TV will ask you to allow USB Debugging from your computer. You can select Always allow from this computer to make things easy for the future.

  • After authorization, your Android TV will start showing up when you run the “ADB devices” command.

ADB install

  • Now, use the “ADB install” command, followed by the APK file name. You may need to include the full path, depending on where the APK file is saved. Example: adb install com.github.android.apk

  • If you are trying to install an app bundle, extract the APKs from the bundle on your PC or Mac using an archiving utility. The bundle can include a base APK and various resource APKs for different Application Binary Interfaces (ABIs), languages, and screen DPIs. Then you’ll have to pick the right APKs for your TV from the extracted APKs, based on the ABI and DPI data. If you don’t pick the right APKs, you’ll get an error, as you can see in the screenshot below. Make sure you put the extracted APK files in the platform-tools or ADB folder for easy access. You can also rename them if you want. Alternatively, if you have the ADB path/ alias set up, you can also directly run ADB in the folder containing the extracted APKs.

ADB install multiple

  • Then use the “adb install-multiple” command followed by APK file names. Example: adb install-multiple base.apk split_config.armeabi_v7a.apk split_config.tvdpi.apk

Depending on the file size, the command will take a few seconds, and install the app on your Android TV.

Sideloaded apps not showing up in the Android TV app drawer?

Sideload Launcher

Sideload Launcher

Sometimes after sideloading an Android app on your television, you’ll notice its icon doesn’t appear in the app drawer. This is because Android TV requires apps to have a leanback icon to use with the TV’s leanback launcher, and if you have installed an app made for phones and tablets, it won’t have a leanback icon. So you’ll need to use an app like Sideload Launcher to see the sideloaded apps.

FLauncher

FLauncher

Apart from the Sideload Launcher, you can also try FLauncher. It’s an open-source launcher and can be downloaded directly from the Google Play store on your Android TV. However, since it’s a work in progress right now, you may notice an occasional bug.

In terms of features, FLauncher has customizable categories, the ability to order apps, wallpaper support, and more. Additionally, there are no ads in the launcher for a clean experience.

Another Sideload Launcher alternative that seems promising but is also under development is the developer Niels Van Velzen’s TV Launcher. Unfortunately, it’s not available for download yet, but you can monitor its progress at Github.

These are two of the easiest ways to sideload apps on your Android TV. However, if you install apps made primarily for phones or tablets, you may not get the best experience using them on your TV. Also, some apps may not work at all, or you end up with orientation issues.

How to Install an APK on an Android TV

How to Install an APK on an Android TV

Android TVs have the same operating system as an Android phone, meaning that you can access the Google Play Store and download apps to your TV. Moreover, it’s possible to install apps that are not available in the Google Play Store. This can be done by transferring APK files, and the term for this process is “sideloading.”

How to Install an APK on an Android TV

Not only does this give you the option to install different apps, but it can also be done in many ways. This article will talk about installing APK files on your Android TV using different devices and approaches.

How to Install an APK

Despite the approach you choose to install an APK file, the first step is always the same. You have to enable installing apps outside the Google Play Store. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Open “Settings” on your TV by clicking on the gear icon in the bottom row.

  2. Scroll till you find “Security & restrictions.”

  3. Toggle on “Unknown Sources.”

  4. A pop-up warning will appear; click on “Accept.”

The next step is downloading the APK file to your computer. There are many websites where you can find APK files; the most popular is APK Mirror. Select the file you want and download it to your PC.

Using Google Drive or Dropbox is a more straightforward approach. However, you’ll need to install a file manager on your Android TV if you don’t have one. You can do this by simply opening Google Play Store and searching for ES File Explorer. Follow these steps from there:

  1. Upload the downloaded APK file to Google Drive or Dropbox.

  2. Open Es File Explorer on your Android TV.

  3. Find the “Network” option and select “Cloud.”

  4. In the top right corner, click on “New” and choose the cloud platform you’re using (Google Drive or Dropbox).

  5. Log into your cloud account.

  6. Select your cloud storage when it appears on the screen.

  7. Go to your APK file and click on it to start the download.

  8. Once the download has finished, an installation pop-up will appear. Select “Install.”

How to Install an APK From a USB

Installing an APK file from a USB stick is pretty straightforward. You’ll need to download to APK file to your PC first and have a USB port on your TV. Follow these steps:

  1. Connect the USB to your PC.

  2. Transfer the APK file from your PC to your USB.

  3. Connect the USB to your Android TV.

  4. When the file appears on the screen, click on it.

  5. The installation will begin automatically.

Install APK From Phone

This method requires your phone and Android TV to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. It is handy because you don’t need any additional hardware like a USB or SD card. However, you’ll need the Send Files to TV app from the Google Play Store. The app needs to be installed on both the phone and Android TV.

Also, you have to have a file manager installed on your Android TV. You can use ES File Explorer here as well. The APK file needs to be downloaded on your phone before you start the process.

Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Open the “Send Files to TV” app on both the Android TV and phone.

  2. Follow the instructions that will lead you to the app’s home screen.

  3. Press “Send” on your phone and select the APK file.

  4. Select the Android TV as the receiving device.

  5. The file will be sent to the TV and stored in the “Downloads” folder by default.

  6. Open the file manager you’ve installed earlier on the Android TV.

  7. Select the “Downloads” folder and click on the APK file.

  8. You’ll be asked if you want to accept an installation from an unknown source. Select “Accept” to begin the installation.

Android TV Unable to Install APK

It is not uncommon for an error to appear when installing an APK file to your Android TV, and it can happen for many reasons. However, we will discuss some methods that can help you to fix this issue.

Not all APKs can be installed using Android Package Installer. Many APK files come in bundles, and you’ll need an installer to install them. Some of them are dangerous, and it’s not recommended to use them unless you know where they came from.

By looking at the extension name, you should be able to tell the difference between Split APKs and ordinary APKs. Extensions for non-regular APKs include APKM, XAPK, and APKS. If you wish to sideload an app with these extensions, be sure to utilize the applications that can install them. To do so, you can use the Split APK installer.

As mentioned before, installing APKs from unknown sources might lead to difficulties. There are a lot of websites that sell unsafe altered software. They’re also frequently corrupted and won’t run, or if they do, they’re unstable.

Sticking to trustworthy sites like APK Mirror that retain the software in its original state is recommended. They also verify that every program published by contributors is in its original condition. All of this results in secure and reliable applications that don’t give you installation issues or, in the case of bundles, require you to download an installer to sideload them on your device.

If you still can’t install APK files on your TV, your system is likely flawed, which you can fix by restoring it to factory settings.

Another way is to reinstall apps instead of restoring the system. Updating or downgrading applications with an APK is typically a great option. You can either go back to a supported but less-than-optimal version or receive the latest versions without having to wait for the official Google Play Store update. However, both options can sometimes lead to more issues. An even better option is removing the original software and doing a clean install instead of upgrading an app.

Of course, this does not apply to some system software that cannot be deleted. In this case, you need to delete updates and then sideload an APK to restore them. So, instead of updating and downgrading an app, conduct a fresh install using an APK.

Lack of storage capacity is probably not the most common reason to cause this error, but it’s still possible. Double-check that you have enough storage space.

You can use an SD card for media files such as music, photographs, and movies to free some space. Another way is to clear the cache of your apps. Remember that this will reset your settings and login credentials, but it will provide you with some additional storage space. You can also uninstall any apps that are no longer in use.

Lastly, check if you’ve enabled installing apps from unknown sources. The steps to do so are already described above.

Android TV Install APK Without File Manager

This approach requires you to have Android Debug Bridge (ADB) installed on your PC. If you’re not a coder, It’s best to use a third-party installation tool. You can use 15 Seconds ADB Installer on Windows or Nexus Tools on Mac or Linux.

This method is a more complex way to install APK files, but it can be more convenient for some. The following steps are to enable developer options on your Android TV.

  1. Open “Settings.”

  2. Scroll until you find the “About” option.

  3. Click on the “Build” option several times. A notification will pop up telling you how many clicks are needed to enable the developer mode.

  4. In the setting menu under “Preferences,” the “Developer Mode” will be visible. Click on it.

  5. Toggle on “USB Debugging.”

Now you’ll need to connect your TV and your PC with a USB cable. Follow these steps to continue:

  1. Open the folder where your APK file is located, and press Shit+Right click.

  2.  Select “Open command window here.”

  3. Type in the following and press Enter:
    adb devices

  4. Once the devices are connected, type out:
    adb install apkname.apk

  5. The installation process will begin, and “success” will appear when it has finished.

Stay Safe

Note that even though the flexibility for installing apps for your Android TV is great, it comes with a risk. Not only can suspicious APKs cause installation issues, but they can also contain harmful malware and cause damage to the operating system. To prevent this, always use trustworthy sources. Additionally, you can use anti-virus software to scan the file before transferring it to your Android TV.

10 Best AppLinked Codes — Ultimate List for July 2022

best applinked codesIn this guide, I have listed out the best working AppLinked codes for you to try on your streaming device. These codes will work for all Amazon Fire TV products, including FireStick 4K, FireStick Lite, and Fire TV Cube, as well as other Android devices like Chromecast, Android TV boxes, tablets, and smartphones.

AppLinked is getting bigger and better! As the FileLinked app recently stopped working, people have been on the lookout for an app that can perform easy installations through codes. Developed by Inside4Android Studios, AppLinked is regarded as the perfect replacement for FileLinked so far! It’s worth noting that the same studio has developed other notable apps, including Media Lounge, Strix, and UK Turks.

Legal Disclaimer: This tutorial is purely educational. FireStickTricks.com doesn’t own, host, operate, resell, or distribute any streaming apps, addons, IPTV or services. The page contains some unverified services, and we are not certain whether they hold legal licenses to distribute the content. FireStickTricks.com does not verify the legality of each app/service in all regions. Do your due diligence if you use any of the unverified apps/services, and stream only content that is available in the public domain. The end-user shall be solely responsible for the media accessed.

AppLinked Security Warning — Read This First!

According to the original developer of AppLinked, the rights to the app were sold to another party on October 21st, 2021.

Since the ownership chance, the app received an update that increased its file size without adding any functions. Many users saw this as a red flag.

We can determine whether the updated AppLinked file is malicious by scanning it with a security checker. You can see the latest results from the Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal below. It detected adware and other threats in the AppLinked APK.

applinked apk scan kaspersky

Let’s check VirusTotal too. It also indicates that the AppLinked APK now contains malicious files.

applinked apk scan virustotal

Stop Using AppLinked Immediately

Due to these developments, I highly recommend that you do not use AppLinked anymore. Read our guide to using UnLinked to get started with an alternative. Or you can read my full list of alternatives.

Our original article on AppLinked codes continues below. But again, I recommend that you do not use AppLinked and instead choose an alternative.

What Is AppLinked?

The recently developed AppLinked works similarly to FileLinked, meaning you can download any app with an AppLinked code. Once AppLinked is installed, you just need to enter a code, select an app from that code, and download the APK (the Android app installation file) for the app. Then AppLinked installs the app using the APK.

The best part is AppLinked is compatible with any Android device.
Impressed with AppLinked already? Read more about installing and using AppLinked on FireStick.

Is AppLinked Safe and Legal?

I ran the Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal on the official link to download AppLinked. This security scan did not detect any malicious threats. However, while AppLinked itself is safe, it lets you download numerous third-party apps that may contain malicious threats. To keep yourself safe from hacks and spying, I highly recommend using a
reliable VPN service like ExpressVPN

AppLinked codes

Regarding legality, FireStickTricks.com doesn’t verify the legality of AppLinked nor the applications and services you can access through AppLinked. The information in this article is for educational purposes only. Any action you take upon the information on this website is strictly at your own risk.

This article mentions unverified apps and services that may or may not hold legal licenses to distribute the content that they distribute. If you use these apps and services, you may accidentally stream content from a source that is not legal in your region. While FireStickTricks.com does not encourage or advocate piracy or illegal streaming, I do advise you to use a good VPN like ExpressVPN that will keep your activity private and protect you from legal surprises in the future.

Best AppLinked Codes in 2022

In this section, I have listed some of the best AppLinked codes that you can use to download popular apps for smart TVs. Since we are dealing with third-party apps, I recommend activating your VPN for safety purposes before installing any.

Attention, FireStick Users!

Governments and ISPs constantly monitor your online activity, and accessing copyrighted content on your Fire TV Stick could lead to serious trouble. Currently, your IP is visible to everyone. I strongly recommend getting the best FireStick VPN to mask your IP address and securely stream your favorites.

I personally use ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN available. Not only is it easy to install on any device, it comes with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee. Plus, if you're not 100% satisfied, you can always get a refund. ExpressVPN is currently also offering a whopping 3 extra months free on their annual plan!

Here are reasons why using a VPN at all times is essential.

How to Stream on FireStick Anonymously

As soon as you install the right apps, your FireStick is all ready to stream your favorite content. However, before you start, I would like to warn you that everything you stream online is visible to your ISP and Government. This means, streaming free movies, TV shows, Sports might get you into legal trouble

Thankfully, there is a foolproof way to keep all your streaming activities hidden from your ISP and the Government. All you need is a good VPN for Fire Stick. A VPN will mask your original IP which is and will help you bypass Online Surveillance, ISP throttling, and content geo-restrictions.

I personally use and recommend ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is compatible with all kinds of streaming apps and is very easy to install on Fire TV / Stick.

We do not encourage the violation of copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.

So, before you start streaming on your Fire Stick / Fire TV, let’s see how to use ExpressVPN to keep your streaming activities hidden from prying eyes.

Step 1: Subscribe to ExpressVPN HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it free for the first 30-days and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.

Step 2: Power ON your Fire TV Stick and go to Find followed by Search option.

Wrapping Up

Well, that’s one huge list! These are the best AppLinked Codes in 2022, and I have personally checked each of these codes within AppLinked to make sure they work. If you receive any errors while installing APKs with AppLinked, restart the AppLinked app and try again. So, which codes have you tried? What are your thoughts on AppLinked? Can it replace the popular FileLinked? Let us know in the comments section below.
